NOFA/Mass Receives $15,000 Grant to Educate Homeowners about Organic Lawn Care

Homeowners from throughout Massachusetts will have the opportunity to learn organic lawn care methods at hands-on workshops in April 2011, thanks to a generous $15,000 grant NOFA/Mass received from the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
    NOFA/Mass will host a series of 12 organic lawn care workshops during the first-ever “Statewide Organic Lawn Days” next spring, in an effort to provide practical methods and organic lawn care education to homeowners.

The 9th Annual NOFA Accreditation Course in Organic Land Care will be held in four states in 2010.  The course will be offered in Massachusetts and Connecticut in January and in New York and Rhode Island in February.

5th Annual NOFA Organic Lawn & Turf Course, Aug 2009
Aug. 7 in Amherst, MA --- Aug. 18 in Hillsborough, NJ – Aug. 20 in Manchester, CT

The NOFA Organic Land Care Program, a project of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) of Massachusetts, will hold the 5th annual NOFA Organic Lawn & Turf Course in three states this year: on Friday, Aug. 7 at UMass Amherst in Amherst, MA; on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Duke Farms in Hillsborough, NJ; and on Thursday, Aug. 20 at Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT. Each course runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stevenson, CT August 2008 - The NOFA Organic Land Care Program experienced record-breaking attendance at the 4th annual Organic Lawn & Turf Courses held last month in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut.  Over 190 professionals attended this full day event in organic lawn and turf grass management, demonstrating the ever-increasing demand for organic land care services by homeowners and towns throughout the region.
