Reaccreditation
We operate an Accreditation Program for organic land care professionals. The accreditation exam is given on the last day of the 5-day Accreditation Course. Those who pass are eligible to become NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals (AOLCPs) and pledge to practice according to the NOFA Standards for Organic Land Care for those clients who ask for organic. The requirements are as follows:
- Take the NOFA OLC 5-day Accreditation Course in organic landscaping
- Pass the Accreditation Exam
- Pledge to provide organic land care according to the NOFA Standards for Organic Land Care
- Maintain continuing education by attending a minimum of 4 credit-hours of organic landscaping education annually.
- Pay an annual fee ($100) to support the work of the OLC program.
NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP) status is renewable on an annual basis upon submission of evidence of the required number of approved continuing education credit hours, a signed application for re-accreditation and the required fee which goes to support the OLC program.
The accreditation year follows the calendar year. Please note that our accreditation deadline always falls on the first of the year. All AOLCPs, including those who were newly accredited in this calendar year, must have proof of credits and payment postmarked by January 1, of the following year, in order to reaccredit for that year.
To become re-accredited, the professional must provide the following postmarked by January 1st:
- A completed re-accreditation form with evidence of 4 (four) hours of approved continuing education credits, signed off by course instructors OR evidence of 2 (two) hours of teaching organic land care. Teaching credits must be approved in advance by the NOFA OLC Credit Subcommittee.
- A check for $100 made out to NOFA OLC.

Within the First Year:
Professionals must pay a late fee of $25 in addition to the above requirements, making the total due $125 and a signed form with evidence of 4 approved continuing education credits. All benefits will be restored including publicity through press releases and the website and the use of the AOLCP Logo. However, professionals that have missed the deadline will not be published in the printed NOFA Guide to Organic Land Care.
After One Year:
Professionals must pay a late fee of $25 and acquire an additional 2 hours of approved credit, making the total due $125 and a signed form with evidence of 6 approved continuing education credits. All benefits will be restored, including publicity in the current issue of NOFA Guide to Organic Land Care.
After Two Years:
Professionals must retake the Organic Land Care Exam, given at the end of the 5-day course. Attending the entire course is not required. Professionals must pay a late fee of $25 and acquire an additional 2 hours of approved credit, making the total due $125 and a signed form with evidence of 6 approved continuing education credits. All benefits will be restored, including publicity in the current issue of NOFA Guide to Organic Land Care.
